AEO questions that connect answer surfaces to action

An AEO review should turn a real customer question into a useful page change, with the answer surface, supporting evidence and follow-up check clearly named.

How do you turn an AEO review into practical changes?

An answer engine optimisation review should connect a real customer question to a useful page and a named search surface. Check whether the page answers the question clearly, supports important claims and provides a sensible next step. Record Google AI answers, featured snippets and other platforms separately. For Google Search, eligibility and normal SEO still matter; a question heading or FAQ block is not a shortcut to appearing in an answer.

Specify the question and the answer surface

A Google AI answer, a featured snippet and an answer in another platform are different observations. Name the surface you are reviewing instead of combining them into one visibility score.

AEO and GEO labels overlap in industry use. The practical brief should say what is being checked and changed. For example: review whether this service page answers the customer question, then record the relevant answer surface before and after publication.

Answer the customer before describing the method

If the question is what the service includes, put the scope, exclusions and next step near the beginning. A paragraph explaining why the page is useful does not answer that question.

Then add the detail needed to make a decision: conditions, examples, sources and honest limits. Use headings to help readers navigate, rather than splitting one answer into many thin pages for different wordings.

Use questions and structured data for a real purpose

A visible question is useful when it resolves a customer objection. It should not merely repeat the article summary. Any structured data should describe what is actually visible and appropriate for the page.

Google stopped showing FAQ rich results from 7 May 2026. That does not remove the value of answering a useful question, but adding FAQ markup is not a current Google rich-result strategy.

Make the proposed action specific and testable

A useful recommendation names the affected page, question, observation and edit. Replace create more answer-ready content with a specific change, such as explain the exclusions beside the price because the current page leaves them unclear.

Record when the change is published and check both the page and its next step. A clearer page can be verified immediately. A later answer appearance needs its own dated observation and should not be promised in advance.
