One operator. Six workflows. Small roster.
TomHow is a one-person SEO and AI-search visibility consultancy run by Thomas Howcroft, who has worked in SEO since 2017. Operated through HOWCROFTS CONSULTING LTD, incorporated on 1 November 2018, TomHow was rebuilt in 2026 around the AI search problem.
Search broke. Most agencies have not noticed.
Two-column schematic. Left: 2019-2023 Google ranking game ending in a session. Right: 2026 AI answer ending in a citation or invisibility.
For two decades, organic search was a Google ranking game. Optimise pages, build links, measure positions, wait. The buyer typed a query, picked a result, you got a session.
A growing share of queries end inside an AI answer. The buyer asks ChatGPT, Claude, or Perplexity. If you are not cited in the response, you can be missing from that answer path even when you rank on Google.
TomHow is a one-person SEO and AI search visibility consultancy run by Thomas Howcroft, who has worked in SEO since 2017. It operates through HOWCROFTS CONSULTING LTD, a UK company incorporated on 1 November 2018, company number 11654047. There are no employees, no contractors and no account managers. Thomas runs the work directly, supported by six named workflows that track citations, draft content, plan the month, write the reports, watch competitors, and keep the technical surface healthy. The roster is capped deliberately, so every active account gets thinking time instead of a coordinator. Delivery is async-led: written reports and screen recordings do most of the work, and calls happen when they sharpen a decision. Many SEO agencies still optimise for Google rank and treat AI citations as a side note. That is not enough when a buyer can ask ChatGPT, Claude or Perplexity for a shortlist and never click a normal result. TomHow was rebuilt in 2026 around exactly that gap.
The tools we run on, listed in full.
No mystery vendor list. No "proprietary methodology". The stack is below. Anyone replicating it from scratch faces months of integration work, plus the question of who actually runs it once it is built.
Four operating principles.
No employees. No contractors. No account managers. Thomas Howcroft runs the work with a small set of AI-assisted workflows under his direct control.
The client cap is deliberate. It keeps enough thinking time on every active account.
No bloated discovery process. No standing meetings. Written reports and screen recordings do most of the work. Calls happen when they sharpen the decision or the strategy.
The tools we use are listed above. The current V1 is operator-led, not an unlimited API backend. The methods are documented at /how-it-works and the output format is shown at /reports/sample.
Six workflows. One operator.
Atlas tracks citations. Forge drafts the long-form. Compass plans next month. Scribe assembles the signed report. Hawk watches competitors. Anvil keeps the technical surface healthy. Thomas Howcroft signs every shipment.
The entity, operator, and evidence standard are public.
TomHow is not an anonymous tool page. The legal company, operator, contact route, method, and evidence standard are named so buyers and AI crawlers can understand who is accountable for the work.
Who is behind TomHow?
TomHow is run by Thomas Howcroft, who has worked in SEO since 2017, through HOWCROFTS CONSULTING LTD, a UK company incorporated on 1 November 2018.
Is the work fully automated?
No. The tooling produces checks, drafts, and reports, but Thomas Howcroft reviews the evidence and signs the final deliverables.
What evidence sits behind the report?
The report is built from citation logs, GA4 exports, Google Search Console exports, SEMrush or Ahrefs exports where available, crawl checks, and shipped-work records. Claims are separated from evidence so they can be checked.
